Elizabeth Dougherty is a professional writer and engineer with more than fifteen years of experience. As a science writer at Harvard Medical School, she regularly contributes to Harvard Focus, the medical school's bi-weekly research newsletter. As an associate editor for Innovations, an MIT Press journal featuring the stories of exceptional innovators, she helps entrepreneurs describe how they use technology to meet global challenges. In her previous role as communications manager for the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, she led a rebranding effort that produced a new website and materials for recruiting and fundraising. Her writing has appeared in MIT Tech Talk, the Boston Globe, the Atlantic Monthly Online, New York Archives, NYU Physician, and Research at Boston University.

Prior to her career as a writer, Elizabeth worked for over a decade as a software engineer in the network communications and data storage industries. She led projects from concept to product as an early team member at several startups and also has experience working for industry leaders such as IBM and 3Com.

Elizabeth recently completed her first novel, titled The Blind Pig, and is looking for literary representation.
